U.S. Navy cold weather deck pants or overalls, typically designed to protect sailors working in cold and harsh environments on ship decks. The label indicates that these pants were manufactured under contract with the Navy Department, marked with “Contract NXsx 66638” and labeled as a medium size. Made of cotton OD outside and a wool fabric blend for insulation and durability. These types of garments were essential for deck crew members who were exposed to cold, wet, and windy conditions at sea. Based on the contract number NXsx 66638, these Navy cold weather deck overalls were likely produced around late 1944. The “NXsx” prefix indicates a contract managed by the Bureau of Supplies and Accounts, with contracts numbered sequentially during World War II. For instance, contract number “NXsx 82724” was issued in October 1944. Or thereabouts… Just what the internet gave me. You really don’t think I memorize all that do you? Oh, and these are missing a button at the very bottom of the fly, this is one I’ll bet was cut off because it’s in a stupid location. If you have ever worn these before, you’d know. Zipper is from both top and bottom of the fly, in great shape. No major stains, or tears, in really good overall condition.
